About This Place

Cliff’s Tavern is a cozy and unpretentious bar nestled along NE St Johns Rd in Vancouver, WA, where the local vibe shines through every detail. This charming “hole in the wall” spot offers a welcoming atmosphere that invites both regulars and newcomers to unwind, share stories, and enjoy laid-back evenings. With a friendly and attentive staff, Cliff’s Tavern crafts an experience that feels refreshingly genuine and comfortably familiar.

One of the standout features of Cliff’s Tavern is its well-priced drinks menu — offering everything from cold beers to flavorful cocktails, including a notable Sunday Funday tradition with mimosas that add a delightful brunch-time twist. Locals especially appreciate the $2 Tall Can Tuesdays, a wallet-friendly way to kick back midweek without sacrificing quality. The bartenders bring both skill and humor to the counter, creating a lively yet relaxed environment where you feel like more than just a customer.

Though the food menu sticks to classic bar fare, it hits the mark for those craving straightforward, satisfying bites. From simple yet comforting ham & cheese sidekicks to sweet treats like brownies and cookies, the offerings complement the drinks perfectly. While some have mentioned the pizza doesn’t quite steal the show, the overall casual dining here is about pairing a cold drink with easy-going social time rather than gourmet fare.

Cliff’s Tavern also boasts appealing amenities such as a single pool table, a jukebox to set the soundtrack, and a cozy fireplace that reportedly brings warmth and ambiance during colder months — a touch that enhances the intimate, neighborhood bar vibe. The covered outdoor area with seating gives guests fresh air options and a welcoming space to gather, smoke, or simply enjoy the evening. The bar’s subtle charm and low-key energy make it an ideal spot whether you’re looking to quietly savor a drink or meet friendly faces in a relaxed setting.

Customer experiences vividly paint Cliff’s Tavern as a "top five" watering hole in Vancouver, where the staff’s warmth and the community atmosphere resonate. People consistently highlight the approachable bartenders, chilled-out crowd, and a place that feels like an authentic escape from the usual noisy bar scene. Whether it’s playing pool, listening to occasional live music on weekends, or indulging in a Sunday mimosa, this tavern has an unmistakable character that keeps patrons coming back for more.

In essence, Cliff’s Tavern captures the heart of what makes a local bar special — no frills, genuine hospitality, and a comfortable setting that invites you to relax, connect, and savor everyday moments. If you’re searching for a friendly neighborhood bar where the drinks are fair, the vibe is inviting, and the people are genuinely nice, Cliff’s Tavern should be at the top of your list in Vancouver.

Great little hole in the wall bar. Our sever was great and the atmosphere was nice. The pizza was mediocre at best. One pool table and it looked like they may have live music, probably on Friday and Saturday nights? The overall vibe was good. There is a fireplace that they must fire up on cold winter nights. Bathrooms are okay.

Bartender was fantastic, had a great sense of humor. Bar food was exactly what you would expect for bar food - zero complaints. Cute little "hole-in-the-wall" style bar if that's what you're into. We were there early on a Saturday evening and stayed long enough to watch more people come in. Will definitely be back!

Cold beer... Great affordable drinks. Great bartenders. No complaints here. People seem nice inside, welcoming. Area in back outside for smoking or for fresh air, covered area with tables and chairs. Pool table. Jukebox. And pull tabs to boot. Can't beat it. Definitely top five in Vancouver.
